Two Birds

It took a while for inspiration to hit, but I have several Thank You cards to make and I'm killing two birds here...

This is the Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World. I love how fluffy it is.

I met a mom at a birthday party last weekend who makes and sells hair bows, so I picked her brain to learn how to make some new embellishments.

I used the sketch from the Unity Kit of the Month Sketch challenge.

Peeky, peeky!

Today was a good day.
Kids are back at school, my Unity KOM was in the mail, and my homework is done for a week.

I've always wanted a red door. This will probably be the closest I will ever get as my husband is not a fan of red.

I wish the picture was better. There are a few details you can't see from here: I used my Scor-buddy to score the panels of the door so they feel like raised panels...kind of. I cut around three sides so it will open, and ironically, the kit comes with this sentiment:

I colored the back of the door as long as I was at it, plus the scoring showed on the back, too. The plants are popped up with foam dots for dimension and the door folded right over the top of the originals when I opened it. I inked the edges with Distress inks, tied twine around the side, and DONE!

There are planters just like the ones in the image at Sam's Club. I think I need them now :)

Technical Difficulties

Due to technical difficulties, there will be no completion of homework today. Darn you, stupid hackers!

In the meantime, I will play in the Unity Kit of the Month Sketch Challenge.

I was watching HGTV yesterday and saw one of the designers making wall art by blowing ink around on a canvas. It looked like fun, so we tried it:

My 7-year-old and I took alcohol inks and blew them drop by drop onto photo paper. It dries so quickly that I threw this together, easy peasy. Although, the blowing of the ink was about all my little neat-freak mind could take.

Snowman Birthday

I'm taking a class right now where all of my classmates and I decided we'd rather have bigger weekly assignments than a collaborative final project. I'm all for collaborating, but as nearly all of my classmates live in Connecticut and I'm in Wyoming, this is not easy. So heavy assignments it is! I haven't had a whole lot of time or creativity this week, so I only the brain power for one card this week.

My bell choir director friend wears lots of snowmen and since her birthday is in February, I brought out my January 2011 KOM. I love that thing. It's probably my most used because of the sentiments. Also, I can double-duty this one for the KOM sketch challenge.

I hope I can find more time this next week. I miss my crafting stuff. Sleep, who needs it?!

Lastly, two bloggers were so kind in giving me a Liebster award. It really made my day, and as Eeyore says, "Thanks for noticing."

Re-inkers just made me happy :)

I had to order re-inkers because my ink pads were getting pretty darn dry. And they arrived yesterday in my favorite colors, so I went a little crazy and made 5 instead of just one. I've been really inspired by Jen at The Sparkle Within in her quest to use what she has, although I don't have the willpower to stop shopping, I have been really trying to use what I have and simplify life.

I made these for the Unity KOM Sketch Challenge. It's a little set and my photography can't get the colors right, but I had a good time varigating the bluish-green inks I have as well as using some of the buttons and trim in my drawer.
